Al Mazzone
Lead Vocals
Al Mazzone – Lead Vocals/Percussion. Al is the main man on stage singing in that sometimes soulful, sometimes gritty Ronnie Van Zant manner. He is also the comic relief that gets the band and the audience laughing and having a great time. Al had been performing with various bands in the 90’s before auditioning and becoming the lead singer of, “FREEBIRD,” at the band’s inception. And thankfully for all, he’s been rocking it ever since!
Jim Sotis
Keyboards
Jim Sotis – Piano/Keyboards/Organ/Harmonica/Backing Vocals. Jim is a master Pianist/Keyboard and Harmonica player! He has been playing the circuit for over 30 years in numerous R&B and wedding bands. He is an accomplished musician with a music degree from Five Towns College and has also spent several years as a music instructor as well. Being a long-time aficionado of southern music including, Lynyrd Skynyrd, playing that honkytonk Billy Powell style comes very natural to him!
Jimbo Maloney
Bass, Backing Vocals
Jim (Jimbo) Maloney – Bass/Backing Vocals. Jim is not only "FREEBIRD'S" bassist, but he also manages all performance bookings and rehearsals. Jim has been playing the circuit for over 30 years, cutting his teeth in the early years playing covers, original progressive, and hard rock music. Always a fan of southern rock, the chance to become a member of “FREEBIRD” was offered to him. With that, he grabbed the bull by the horns and dove into learning the Skynyrd catalogue to as close to the originals as possible. Says, Jim, “After all these years with the band, it’s still a lot of fun to do, especially with the group of talented guys I get to perform with. I look forward to every show. The friends/fans we have made over the years has been so worth it.”
Kenny Mades
Guitar
Kenny Mades – Lead/Slide/Rhythm/Dobro Guitars/Backing Vocals. Kenny began playing guitar at 12 years of age and has played many local clubs all over Long Island since. He studied Music at Five Towns College earning an associate degree in Jazz Commercial Music. He also studied classical guitar at CW Post for a year prior to completing a bachelor’s degree in music and education at Dowling College. Over the last decade, and prior to joining “FREEBIRD,” Ken has enjoyed playing the music of his childhood Southern Rock heroes in several bands, most notably, “The Trouble No More Band.” He also fronts a Stevie Ray Vaughan Tribute Band. Ken feels that performing with “FREEBIRD” has become one of the most enjoyable musical experiences of his life.
Mike Dwyer

Mike found himself playing guitar in “FREEBIRD” after spending years in the New York tri-state area circuit with bands and musical experiences that crossed all genres. For over a decade, he has played guitar in New York’s premier Iron Maiden tribute band, “Live After Death,” logging shows and miles from the northeast to Trinidad and Puerto Rico. With stage, session, and road experiences that include everything from rock to metal, gospel, jazz, and country, Mike, is happy to have a chance to explore Southern Americana and roots music with the boys of “FREEBIRD.”

He has played in many rock and metal bands over the years traveling across the USA and abroad. Recently, Mike made the transition to southern rock since reconnecting with longtime friends, Jimbo and Al from his hometown of Brentwood, New York, and hasn’t looked back since. Like Artimus Pyle, he credits Buddy Rich as a major influence and is a wild man on the kit.
